The Roomba Combo J9+ is an all-in-one robot mop and vacuum cleaner that is among the most advanced available. It has a sleek, self emptying Clean Base that can hold up to two mopping cycles. It is designed to look just like a small desk. It's also the only robot mop we've tested that comes with a water reservoir on board that automatically cleans and refills the pads for cleaning after each vacuum and mopping cycle.
The mopping arm is placed on the top of the unit until it spots hard floors, and then it lowers to begin scrubbing. It is able to move slowly over surfaces to avoid spreading wet spills or mud over carpeted areas. And it does a great job in keeping itself away from cords, furniture, and other obstacles.
It's smarter than the majority of robot vacuums, thanks to the iRobot Home app, which allows you to customize your cleaner's settings and prioritize rooms based on dirtiness, set schedules and cleaning times, and more. The app also offers detailed maps of your home, seasonal suggestions and custom cleaning routines and a variety of smart-home integrations that are easy to use.

Its sensors do a good job of detecting larger objects, such as furniture and HVAC vents. However, they struggle with smaller objects, such as cables and rags that are small, which may cause the robot to miss areas.
The M12's built-in inclinometer allows it to detect and navigate up and down stairs. It is a great vacuum cleaner and mop, and can complete our 1,500 square foot test area in just 101 minutes before running out of battery and returning to its dock. The mop is washed between uses, a feature that reduces the cost of maintenance and keeps its pads clean. A dock sensor detects when a mop's pad becomes dirty and initiates washing cycles.
The S8 MaxV Ultra, like its predecessors has an intelligent system that can detect things that are commonplace, like shoes and pet waste by using a combination of a camera and LIDAR. It performed well in our obstacle avoidance evaluation and had only one issue during my testing (it got stuck in unwinding a ball of wool that was tangled up around its brush arm).
The S8 MaxV Ultra has a new 10,000pa suction power, more than twice its predecessor. This makes it a fantastic option for homes with lots of carpeting and varying types of flooring. The vacuum can be programmed to automatically increase the suction when it comes across crumbs or dust.

This makes the X40 Ultra receive one of the top scores in our assessments of obstacle avoidance.
5. Eufy S1 Pro
The Eufy S1 Pro is an extremely powerful vacuum and mop combination that was designed to be user-friendly. The gunmetal base station fills up its own tank of clean water, empties the dust bin into a smaller container and ishes and drys its own mop pads during cleaning sessions. It also has an advanced feature set that allows it to switch between rugs and hard and effectively remove pet hair and dirt from carpets, and clean the thresholds of rooms that are raised.
The S1 Pro's navigation and mapping are excellent, with the dToF LiDAR system in the internal unit that allows it to keep the appearance of a slim profile while providing top-quality objects avoidance. It can drive up to walls and avoid steps without falling. It also automatically raises the mop when driving on short-pile or rugs carpets. It had a difficult time when it encountered longer-pile carpets, and some long, thick mess of dried-on debris.
Like all robots, the S1 Pro comes ready to come out of the box and needs only a quick initial mapping run to figure out how it can navigate your home. Once that's done, the map is displayed in the app and rooms can be added or combined when needed. You can also set virtual boundaries as well as no-go zones if there's something you don't want the robot to touch.
The S1 Pro does a great job of removing messes from hard floors, thanks to its rotating mop head that puts 2.2lbs (1kg) of downward pressure on the floor. Its ability to mop and vacuum makes it an excellent option for homes with two types of flooring. However, its reliance on Eufy cleaning products (which are included in the box) could make it less flexible than other robots which allow you to add your own cleaning solutions.
